The Official GLBT Democratic Club
Houston Area Stonewall Democrats is chartered by the National Stonewall Democrats (NSD) and Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus (TSDC). The Democratic National Party and Texas Democratic Party both recognize Stonewall Democrats as their official GLBT Democratic affiliated organization. In fact, Stonewall Democrats have two seats on the SDEC -- the State Democratic Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party.
This Year with HASD
This year, we have lots of opportunities for networking and making friends through political and social events. Our members engage in all types of campaign activities -making a real difference for our targeted, fair-minded candidates. Join our network of GLBT activists and register for Project 500!
We also have frequent conversations with Democratic party officials about why our families need and deserve more support from our party and its elected officials. If you want to become more active in the party, we are the club to join! Three of our members are delegates to the National Democratic Convention in Denver.
Our Structure
HASD operates according to the Bylaws adopted in December 2007. Each January, we elect officers to serve a one-year term. Our Executive Board is composed of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership Chair. The board meets in an open session once per month. Most of our work, however, takes place by our committees, known as action groups.
